NASL organized and managed a Seven days’ Seminar cum Workshop on School Library, Pedagogical Center and Children’s Literature in co-operation with Kshitiz School and supported by The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its foundation for Democracy, and the Danish Association of School Librarians.
Events & Activities
A huge rally of School Teachers, Students, Social Workers, Journalists And Government Officials was organized by NASL on the occasion of International School Library Day, 4th October, 2005. The rally aimed to promote awareness with respect to qualitative education in schools across the country to all stake holders.
In November 2004 Ms. Sharada Siwakoti, Chairperson of NASL participated in a work shop on Information Skills for Learning. There she presented a research paper on “ The Status of School Library Development In Nepal” After her return NASL disseminate the information about the importance of Information Literacy among the network schools continuously and
Being a potent promoter of school libraries, NASL directed its efforts towards understanding the drawbacks and challenges facing the country in promoting School Libraries. Among others, the lack of finances and trained manpower were identified as the major constraints in initiating the establishment of libraries in schools across the country.
A Two-days Seminar on “Children’s Literature: Theme and Message” was jointly organized by NASL and NSCL on the 16th and 17th of March, 2003. The program was attended by several authors, publishers and teachers and was inaugurated by Mr. Sally Altsulzer, a Danish writer.
NASL organized a One-day Seminar on the “Situation of Community-based School Libraries in Nepal” on the 28th of July, 2003. The seminar was inaugurated by Mr. Janardan Nepal, Education Director, the Department of Education (DoE), Government of Nepal.
