Seminar on the “Situation of Community-based School Libraries in Nepal”← Back
Acknowledging the fact that most government schools are yet to establish a functional Library, the Director Mr. Nepal said that efforts were being made to equip school libraries with adequate facilities as also seeking cooperation and participation from the community. He appreciated the activities of NASL in this regard and pledged support from the government’s side.
The first paper was presented by Mrs. Nirmala Shrestha, Head, Central Department of Library and Information Science, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur. The title of the paper was “Role of the School Libraries in Education and Status of Secondary School Libraries in Kathmandu Valley.”
The second paper was presented by Mr. Rudra Dulal, Lecturer, Central Department of Library and Information Science, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur. The title of the paper was “Need of Community-based Libraries for Educational Development of Nepal.”
The third paper was presented by Mr. Bhola Shrestha, Bibliographic officer, Nepal National Library, and President of Nepal Library Association (NLA). He talked about “the Present Situation of Community-based School Libraries in Nepal.”
