A Rally on the Occasion of ISL day, 4th October, 2005← Back
Initiated from Sifal Chour, Kathmandu-7 at 11 AM, the rally travelled through Jayabageshwari, Mitrapark and ended at Chabahil Chowk. Carrying placards that read “One School, One Library”, “No Library No School”, “Education begins with vision” etc. and demanding that libraries be established in each school, scores of students from more than 15 private and government schools flocked the streets on the day.
Hundreds of teachers and more than three thousand school children, along with representatives from different social organizations and leaders from professional organizations took part in the rally. Mrs. Narbada Pokhrel, General Secretary of NASL highlighted the objective of the rally to the huge mass. Special Guest Mr. Bhola Shrestha, Chairperson of SAARC Library Association appreciated NASL’s contributions towards the education sector through the establishment and development of libraries and creating awareness among all the stake holders. The Chief Guest, Mr. Laxman Khanal, District Education Officer, Kathmandu stressed the need and significance of School Library and the involvement of NASL in quality education, while also promising his co-operation on this front.
