link.png Preparation of Concept Paper on School Library

NASL prepared a concept paper on School Library and presented it in the Meeting organized by Nepal National Library on the occasion of its Golden Jubilee year in participation of various organizations, viz. Tribhuvan University Central Library, Tribhuvan University Department of Library Sciences, Nepal Library Association, The Nepalese Association of School Librarians (NASL), and Tribhuvan University Library Sciences Alumni Association (TULSAA) to draft a Library Policy.
On this occasion, a Library Policy Draft Committee was formed with NASL’s presence.
 
NASL Chair person represented as a committee member for developing draft  Library and formation policy for Nepal, 2064 (2007) and given a great contribution to pass the policy.

link.png one-Day Awareness Workshop on “Importance of School Library for Head Teachers

NASL organized a One-day Awareness Workshop on the “Importance of School Library for Head Teachers” in Lalitpur district in August, 2006. The objectives of the program were to promote library awareness, to make library services accessible for all, to establish a library or information centre in the area and to introduce NASL and brief participants on its activities in the field of libraries and information systems.

On Mrs. Siwakoti’s return from Patiala University, NASL called a gathering with the objective of disseminating the information and sharing of ideas on the Resolutions passed in the Workshop at Patiala. The Resolutions were distributed to the Ministry of Education, Department of Education and District Education Offices situated in the valley, Politicians, UNESCO, Embassies and other Government Offices, I/NGOs, Tribhuvan University Central Library, Nepal National Library and Member Schools.

In October 2005, NASL Chairperson Ms. Sharada Siwakoti participated in a Workshop on “Information Skills for Learning - Part 2” in Patiala, India as a follow-up program of the Colombo Workshop on the same issue in November 2004.
